Mypublisher review1/13/2024 ![]() You need to pay to use some of the themes even if you design the book yourself. They have 3 paths, the simple one, just dragging things in, a custom made one, where you have more flexibility and they also offer a design service for an extra charge. It’s an online software, so you need to upload all your images before starting the editing process. Silver-halide option would be nice for the quality freaks (like me!) Didn’t notice any faults or colour problems. Colours are excellent, and the digital artifacts are minimal due to the dense texture of the paper. Printing: They use digital offset printers for photo books.Top notch! It’s not as thick as the Mixbook pages, but strong enough for a lay flat book. It looks really good, not too shiny with a lovely pearly texture. Paper: Their standard paper is an acid-free 65lb, luster/matt looking material, for lay flat books they use double thickness paper, so I assume it’s 130lb.You’ll find a barcode on the back cover and on the last page together with the company logo. They also offer die-cut, soft, leather and silk cover as well. Cover: Image wrap hardcover on front and back.Make sure to upgrade for the deluxe seamless lay flat option! The other lay flat option is hinged binding, but in my opinion that is not exactly lay flat, since it’s made up of two pages, not a double spread. Binding: With the lay flat seamless binding the double spreads are stuck together, and the main book is attached to the cover by a white double spread. They ship worldwide and have a huge range of great quality photo books with plenty on options at great prices. In comparison, my wedding album is a MyPublisher deluxe hardcover album, and a hefty 11 x 15 with a glossy book jacket.Shutterfly is an American company with many subsidiaries (TinyPrints, MyPublisher etc.) They specialize in photo books, home decor, stationary and other gift items. As much I as love this pretty grey color, I can tell it will get dirty relatively easily. If I were to order another album, I would go with the black cloth cover. Below you can see it stacked on top of my wedding album, which I designed and printed through MyPublisher. I chose the largest album option they had - the Newport Giant - which is a generous 11 x 14. Here is the finished album I received along with a few of the layouts for your viewing pleasure: Unfortunately I do not fall into that category…) PROS: - The high quality look and feel of the album cover is available in a variety of colors - Super thick, archival quality pages, and good print quality - Expandable up to 100 pages (50 double-sided) - Affordable, although certainly not cheap by any means (and I couldn’t find any online coupons) - No need to download or install any software - Good customer service (I called twice with questions, and they were helpful both times)ĬONS: - The upload and design software on their website is poorly designed and elementary, and there were no real instructions so my first attempts were annoying - Not nearly enough layout options at all! (Not a problem if you are Photoshop/Illustrator savvy and can design your own layouts and upload as a full page image. Through the KOLO site, you can also order the photo printed pages only… perfecto! As I perused the KOLO website, I noticed that they offered Digital Photo books! After some consideration, I decided that this was the best option for me because the style of it is classic and beautiful, and most importantly, the album is expandable up to 50 double-sided pages so that I can continue to expand my portfolio as my business grows. ![]() I was looking for a portfolio album to bring with me to new client appointments and I considered the usual suspects: Mypublisher, Blurb, MPix, etc., as well as the option of inserting 4 x 6 photos into a traditional KOLO album.
